c.1952 Courtland Mechanical Ice Cream Truck in Original Box
New old stock Courtland Mechanical Ice Cream Truck complete with original box. Still has original hand written price written in black grease pencil on the hood. Never played with. This was one of four block style trucks produced by Courtland. The other three were printed on the box. Simple red and white lithographed tinplate. Entire toy was made from just two pieces of tinplate, intricately folded and tabbed. White siding with red ice box doors and front fender. Chassis base is solid black. Bed interior is yellow. Clockwork motor works well and the key is attached. Tires are solid pressed hard black rubber. Box was printed in a single color. Two panels include the generic name "mechanical truck", plus manufacturer name and address. The opposite panels show the four trucks from the series. It's important to note that the small square box adjacent to the Ice Cream Truck was checked off. This verifies that it's the correct box for this toy.
